Job title: Operational Cisco Network Engineer
Location: Serbia, Belgrade/Novi Sad
Terms: Full-time position
Requirements: Based on the availability of the customer request/equipment, some work will have to be done outside of business hours.
As a Managed Service Provider, ITAF provides network infrastructure solutions to customers. ITAF uses Cisco hardware & PfSense. You will be heavily operationally involved in maintaining these services. You will handle network escalations of tickets as a 2nd & 3rd line support after 1st line has captured information. You will be contacted by the ICT Team lead for requests or incidents that require your expertise. It will be your task to come up with technical solutions. Your role mainly takes place within the operations team. This means you are mostly involved in requests on active services & infrastructure. In second place you will also help setting up new network services for customers.
You report directly to the Head of projects. The ICT Team leads, Event management team leads, and IT consultants will contact you for technical escalations. You report your findings/solutions back to them.
The job content
- Resolve networking requests/incidents through our case management system. You will perform changes on Cisco hardware located at the customer premises
- You will perform changes on Cisco hardware & PfSense firewalls located in the datacentre
- Closely keep contact with the Line managers/Project managers/Event Management Team lead/Consultant during requests. These persons are in contact with the customer
- Keep up with the latest technologies in your field by performing trainings
- You are accountable for your Time registration
- You are accountable for writing documentation that allows 1st line support to perform a good requirements capture & basic troubleshooting for network requests & incidents
- You will be accountable for resolving network requests in a professional & timely manner.
The job profile
- Bachelor’s degree in IT and/or at least 5 years of relevant experience
- English should not be a challenge for you
- Strong Expertise in Cisco Networking and Firewall Technologies:
- Routing & Switching:
- Cisco IOS and IOS XR platforms
- MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching)
- BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) session configuration and troubleshooting
- DMVPN (Dynamic Multipoint VPN)
- Layer 2: VLANs, trunking, EtherChannels RSTP/MSTP
- Security & VPNs:
- IPsec VPNs (site-to-site)
- Remote Access VPN (OpenVPN)
- NAT (Network Address Translation)
- Firewall policies and rule management
- Wireless Networking:
- Cisco 9800/5500 Series Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) configuration and administration
- You must be a highly motivated person ready to tackle complex requests that cannot be resolved by 1st line support. Your first goal is to resolve them technically
- You work well in the team by reporting your solutions to the respective owner of the request
- You can explain your technical solutions in human language to the owner of the request
- You can document new procedures for other people in the company
- You are accountable for finding a technical solution for escalated requests.
